How to Set Prayer Times on Your Azan Watch

Getting your prayer times right takes just a few minutes. Exact button names vary between models, so always keep your watch's instruction leaflet to hand — but most Azan watches follow the same basic steps.
Step 1: Set the correct time and date
Prayer times are calculated from the current time and date, so set these first. Check whether your watch uses a 12- or 24-hour format and remember to account for British Summer Time if your model does not change automatically.
Step 2: Choose your city or location
Select your city from the built-in list, or enter your latitude, longitude and time zone if your town is not listed. This is the single most important setting for accurate times.
Step 3: Select the calculation method
Different organisations calculate Fajr and Isha slightly differently. Choose the method used by your local mosque or community — common options include Muslim World League, Umm al-Qura, ISNA and Egyptian General Authority.
Step 4: Choose the Asr method
Select Shafi'i (standard) or Hanafi, depending on the school you follow. This changes the Asr time, sometimes by more than an hour in summer.
Step 5: Fine-tune individual prayers
If your local mosque timetable differs by a few minutes, use the adjustment setting to move individual prayers earlier or later.
Step 6: Set your Azan alerts
Choose which prayers should sound an alert and pick Azan, beep or vibration. Many people use vibration during work hours and the full Azan at home.
Tips for accurate prayer times
- Compare the times with your local mosque timetable for the first few days.
- Update your city when you travel.
- Replace the battery promptly — a low battery can affect alerts.
- For Qibla direction, calibrate the compass away from metal objects and magnets.
